St. Spyridon Church

Τhe church of  St. Spyridon – the patron saint of Corfu – is one of the most visited and widely-known churches on Corfu island. Almost every visitor on Corfu heads to this religious place in the heart of Corfu, boasting a very tall, red bell tower. St. Spyridon is very closely connected to Corfiots and Corfiot traditions and is said to be the saint who protected the island from various epidemic diseases as well as during attacks of enemies. Nowadays, the church of St. Spyridon is located centrally on Corfu, in a totally picturesque alleyway of the town, featuring numerous gift, souvenir and local products shops.
